Here you will find details of spreads I often use, as well as original spreads created by myself or by my ex-husband, posted with permission. Last updated August 5, 2010.

1. One-Year Spread: Posted by me to The Art of Cartomancy Forum on January 1, 2010.

I wrote this spread in 2003, and thought today would be a great day to share it with you. I originally wrote this spread for oracle cards, but adapted it for playing cards. The spread can be done with 9 or 27 cards, depending on how much detail you wish to go into.

Do not choose a significator. There is no pivot card.

Simple version

Shuffle and cut the deck in your usual manner. Lay out the cards as follows:

|7 |2 |8
|5 |1 |3
|6 |4 |9

The cards are interpreted as follows:

1. The Querent before you right now.
2. What the next season will bring (eg. if it will be winter for the next three months, start there.)
3. What spring (or the next season) will bring.
4. What summer will bring.
5. What fall will bring.
6. An obstacle that the Querent will face in the coming year.
7. An accomplishment that the Querent will achieve.
8. A major influence on the Querent’s life this coming year.
9. Something the Querent will waste time on this year.

Additional information can be gleaned from reading rows as your intuition suggests, but not every row has an individual interpretation.

Complicated Version

The complex version is merely to lay a fan of three cards in each position, by cutting the deck into three piles and laying out cards 1-9 from each pile face down. When the pile is turned up it can be interpreted as a fan.

I hope you enjoy this little spread of mine and it brings you some insight!
